I was just watching Sportscenter, which I don’t do very often. They were talking about the Los Angeles Angels and I realized how stupid that name is. The Angels? Really? The Angels Angels?
Edit: I later found out that the Angels are actually from Anaheim, not Los Angeles. So I’ll cut them some slack I guess. It’s a whole 29.7 miles away.

The Announcement! July 4, 2009
Today is America’s birthday. USA! USA! As a nation we turn 233. Still a youngster, sort of.
Who cares about that? You’re all here for one reason, and that’s the big announcement I promised. What is it? Well it’s….
Year of the Beard T-Shirts are now available!
Yes! Awesome. Totally cool. Just in time for summer, these hip shirts are going to be all the rage. Here are the facts: The shirts are American Apparel, so they are sweat shop free and made in America. Plus the are very soft. They cost $10. Part of the proceeds goes to the Domestic Violence Center. $10! That is a steal! They come in two colors, yellow and grey (with black ink). I have mens and womens sizes. Mens I have small, medium, large, and extra large. Womens I have medium and large (sorry, small already sold out!).
So you really want a shirt? How do you order one? Easy! All you have to do is email me and let me know how many, what size, and what color you want. I will email you back and we will set up a payment process. Shirts are limited (I probably have under 80 left) so get them while they are hot! If I run out I may do a second run, but I can’t make any guarantees on that! These might be limited edition. You may even see them start popping up on eBay. Okay that last part probably isn’t true.
But you’re not going to buy these sight unseen. So let’s have a look.
Whoa! We’re Half Way There! July 1, 2009
Today is July 1st. The 182nd day of the year. So I guess technically we’re not half way through the year, if you’re counting days (stupid February has to be all short and different). But if you go strictly by month count, I have made it successfully through six months of beard growing and I have another six months to go.
Great news, right? Yeah! I wish I could celebrate a little more but I am a bit under the weather. I actually had to call off work this morning which I don’t really like to do. I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true. I’ve worked six months and only taken 2 personal days. I’m a maniac. A bearded maniac.
So what’s in store for the next sixth months? Well, I’m glad you asked. Let’s break it down, shall we?
- Another mega blow out fundraiser will happen near the end of the year. Looking to raise even more money than last time.
- Guest “beard-tending” is tentatively scheduled August 28th at a bar downtown. I think I know which bar but I’m going to finalize that soon, so I don’t want to say anything until I do.
- The Cleveland Decathlon has 10 events but I have to set it up with our venue. Possibly in September but I’m going to lean towards October on that one.
- Finally, there will be a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT this weekend on the site. Probably on July 4th (America’s birthday). Be sure to check back then to see what it is. Some people already know but most do not, so keep an eye out.
Another important note. Let’s not forget what Year of the Beard is all about… CHARITY! There hasn’t been much as far as donations lately, and the Domestic Violence Center could really use the help. I know times are tough, believe me, things aren’t all cash money for me. But times are probably tougher for the victims of domestic violence. So if you have anything to donate, anything at all, head over to my Facebook page (friend me if you haven’t!) and donate to the Center. If all my Facebook friends donated $1 today, that’d be awesome. Let’s try that!
